If the shades of a radiant rainbow
changed to a steely grey
would it still be as admired
or its popularity wither away.
If the white cliffs of Dover
lost their pearly majestic view
would they still be so fascinating
or be known for the moss they grew.
If the tiny soft blades of grass
developed huge spikes and thorns
would it be part of the food chain
or be missing from swanky lawns.
If the sun refused to ever set
leaving night to groan and sigh
would tulips and daisies still bloom
or hopeless despair fill the sky.
How lucky and blessed we are
there are no Ifs in between
only God’s bountiful gifts for us
so we can joyfully reap without glean.
