I tried to pour out the meaning of life
from a vessel of brewing age
And all that I got was a cupful of broth
garnished with twigs of insiped sage.
The meaning of life was differently felt
by those whose lips it touch
Some found it sweet while others sour
and nothing really upto much.
Few said it helps to nourish the body
of our rapidly shrinking faith
Ingredients and condiments a perfect blend
that is freshly served never late.
Not satisfied I went on to seek for myself
the meaning of life and pains
Until I wore off my cape of resemblance
and the thickness of my veins.
For the meaning of life seemed far superior
and known to only a few
Who served it out in dollops of parables
to fool staving minds anew.
Unable to decipher after all my search
I lay in my bed
tired and lonely with no desire
for life in my head.
And then I saw the meaning of life
in a burning candle’s flame
And all that it said was it must burn
spreading light was its aim.
From then on I found the meaning of life
in various forms and hues
in the simple things that go unseen
while life passesby without a clue.
