Crush Fiasco

soap-bubble-2258904_1920

She was born into the arms of an illusionary bubble
that exploded every now and then.
And rebuilt itself ever stronger
only to burst on her once again.

It exploded in patterns of violent thunder
and in silent intrusive degrees.
It waited until she thought she recovered
and then threw her back on her knees.

It took disguise of colourful fancy
and of sweet serene it smelt.
It danced in glory to its own symphony
and habitually ruthless it dealt.

Confused and awestruck she stared helplessly
a puppet to its commands.
It controlled her moves to match its motives
as she succumb to its demands.

She was born into the arms of an illusionary bubble
that exploded every now and then.
And rebuilt itself ever stronger
only to burst on her once again.

O’ woman wakeup and fasten your feet
to the carpet of struggle and strife.
Push yourself from there much higher
to fuel the determination of a better life.

Burst the bubble of imaginary limits
and throw your crutches of sigh.
You have the courage of being your own master
and the willpower to succeed from inside.

  1. From whence the illusionary bubble, first and foremost of all?
Is it not one’s family and social milieu that blew and blew to form illusionary bubbles of “imaginary limits” and hopeless feelings of powerlessness, ‘staring helplessly’ finally leading to self-defeat?
Yet, some women of substance and faith dare/d to push up themselves from the carpet of life’s strife and struggles and rise
to live a better life with courage and self-determination leaving no room for any “fiasco”!
    Bravo to Annadine Charles!
Hope her poem “Crush Fiasco” will help confused women to wake up, throw away their ‘crutches of sigh’ and ‘succeed from the inside’!
